Located adjacent to Woodlands World, the Peter J. Magerko Gun Museum showcases an amazing collection of over 460 early American firearms that helped tame the Wild West. The collection consists primarily of Winchester and Parker firearms, along with Savage, Stevens, Fox, and L. C. Smith.
The Winchester collection includes a Model 1866, manufactured in 1871 and nicknamed "Yellow Boy" by the American Indians. All five generations of Model 70 and over 100 of the Model 88s in nearly every caliber are represented. Our lever-action collection will be complete with the addition of a hard-to-find Henry Rifle.
The museum also houses a sampling of the Winchester county commemorative collection, which includes Allegheny, Mifflin, Lancaster, Indiana, Somerset, and Westmoreland counties in Pennsylvania. Our other special edition commemorative rifles include Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, Oliver Winchester, John Wayne, Crazy Horse, Teddy Roosevelt, Legendary Frontiersmen, Wells Fargo, Boy Scouts, Lone Star, Bicentennial, Centennial, Ducks Unlimited, Golden Spike, Cowboy, and Whitetail.
Twenty-seven Parker shotguns are housed, including a rare 8-gauge. Coming soon to the collection are Parker guns and memorabilia once owned by original Hall of Famer E. I. "Bud" Ross, and Mr. Orville Eberly, a local and well-known trap shooter.
The museum also features several wildlife mounts, including one of the two largest Grand Slams of North American Sheep ever harvested by one person, according to the Safari Club Record Book. Also on display is a taxidermy replica of John Wayne and his faithful horse, Dollar.
A life-sized bronze of the Remington sculpture "Rattlesnake" graces the museum entrance.
