"Racing is one of those things that I've had a natural aptitude for and that I've really enjoyed doing over the past 23 years. Ever since I was named NASCAR Winston Cup Series 'Rookie of the Year' in '84, I've been fortunate enough to stay in the game year to year with a measurable degree of success. Believe me, when you can have a job exciting enough to keep you waking up day after day with total anticipation of what's to come, that's success in itself.
But when I'm not racing, I leave the hectic life behind and head out into the outdoors where you can find me relaxing in a boat, fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoor experience with my wife Patti and the rest of my family. Nikon optics have made many of my experiences more enjoyable by really allowing me to take in more of my surroundings and become a participant more than a spectator. And anyone who knows me knows that I really prefer to participate than to watch!
My desire to actively participate in the racing sports--to do whatever it takes to win--has been a determining factor in the successes I have had in my career. And that's what I really have enjoyed about my relationship with Nikon. The folks there have the same attitude and the same outlook in that regard as I do."
