Maggie Hardy Magerko
President & Owner
Maggie Hardy Magerko, appointed President of 84 Lumber Company in 1992, is responsible for day-to-day operations for the company her father, Joe Hardy, III, founded in 1956 in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania. Maggie began training for this position when she was just five years-old, making regular appearances at the corporate headquarters, accompanying her father on site inspections of new properties and attending store visits. In her early twenties, Maggie went to work at the Bridgeville, PA store to expand her knowledge of the daily store operations.
Although Maggie's personal style differs somewhat from her father's, her energetic approach and aggressive goals have been critical success factors in 84 Lumber's operation and growth. Under Maggie's guidance, 84 Lumber refocused its concentration on its original niche - the professional market. Maggie has made a number of strategic moves to strengthen the company's position as the leader in professional contractor sales, striking the delicate balance between maintaining 84 Lumber's traditional approach to doing business, and adapting to meet the ever-changing needs of the customer.
In addition to her duties as President of 84 Lumber Company, Maggie also serves as President & owner of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, one of North America's premier resort destinations. The lavish Mobil Travel Guide 4 Star resort features three hotels, including the new Falling Rock boutique hotel and clubhouse, the internationally acclaimed Woodlands Spa, 36 holes of golf on the Links Course and the Pete Dye designed Mystic Rock - home of the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic, a sporting clay Shooting Academy, Equestrian Center, Hummer off-road course and, 15 on-site restaurants and lounges among a multitude of amenities.
